The 2017 Oscars were eventful to say the least. From the Best Picture mistake that made Oscars history to the many political nods throughout the ceremony, it was a night to remember for so many reasons.
The following day, the internet honed in on the fact that Nicole Kidman has an... Interesting way of clapping. Let's just revisit that for a minute:

Amazing.
Nicole has finally explained why she was clapping in such a way, and it does make sense when you think about it.
'It was really difficult because I had a huge ring on which was not my own, but was absolutely gorgeous and I was terrified of damaging it' she told radio presenter Kyle Sandilands on KIIS1065.

'It was really awkward and I was like gosh, I want to clap, I don't want to not be clapping – which is worse right? "Why isn't Nicole clapping?"'
She has a fair point – had she not clapped at all it would have looked a bit odd (plus she wouldn't have brought us all of the joy by clapping like that). We would probably have done the same in her situation.
So don't worry guys, Nicole can clap properly after all.
