Can you imagine Nicole Kidman as a man? The Oscar-winning actress is to star as the world's first post-operative transsexual in her latest film, alongside Gwyneth Paltrow, who will play her wife.
Nicole will tackle the role of Einar Wegener, the Danish artist who was born a man, but lived much of his life as a woman.
Wegener, who was married to illustrator Gerda Gottlieb back in 1904, sparked outrage in the Copenhagen society when his secret came out.
The role of the long-suffering wife was originally linked to Charlilze Theron, but Gwyneth has now stepped in to play the part.
Einar Wegener was said to have discovered his true inclinations when standing in for a female model who was due to pose for one of his wife's paintings, and dressed up in women's clothes and make-up for the first time.
After the scandal broke out, the couple eventually upped and moved to Paris, where the newly anonymous Wegener adopted the alter-ego Lili Elbe.

They remained married until 1929, when Wegener began to embark upon a series of sex change operations - after which the marriage was automatically annulled, on account of it being between two women.
