Natalie Imbruglia announces her divorce from Silverchair frontman
Natalie Imbruglia has announced she and her husband are divorcing after four years of marriage.
The couple released a joint statement on Friday blaming their 'career demands' for the split. The singer claimed she and her husband, frontman of band Silver Chair, Daniel Johns, has grown apart owing to the pressures of work.
Since their marriage the pair has maintained a long-distance relationship - Imbruglia residing in Britain and Johns remaining in their native Australia.
In the statement, the couple said: 'While we are very sad that our marriage has ended, we want to make it clear that our parting is amicable, and we remain friends.
This mutual decision has not been taken lightly or quickly. However, our career demands and our lives in different parts of the world have brought us to the point where unfortunately this difficult decision was necessary for both of us. We have simply grown apart through not being able to spend enough time together.'
