Miley Cyrus has dominated the showbiz headlines for the best part of 2013, and it seems all her controversial antics have been a hit with general public.
According to the real-time results of TIME’s annual online poll, the Wrecking Ball singer is just days away from bagging the coveted Person of the Year title.
Sitting pretty at the top spot, Miley is on track to beat off competition from the Pope and teen activist Malala Yousafazai. Yes, really.
The final decision will still sit with the magazine’s editor, but with Miley storming ahead with 29% more votes, the figures just don’t lie.
Angelina Jolie, Prince George and Breaking Bad’s Vince Gilligan also appear on the final list, but unless they all unite for the mother of twerking sessions, film it and make it viral, the former Disney star will take some beating.
Voting in the readers’ poll closes at precisely 11:59pm on 4 December, with the winner announced on 6 December, followed by the magazine’s choice on 11 December.
