Melissa McCarthy is officially IN for the Gilmore Girls revival

Melissa McCarthy has officially signed up for Netflix’s Girlmore Girls re-boot, destroying all previous rumours that her schedule was too mad, and making all our Flashback Friday dreams come true.
In a preview for an episode of The Ellen Show, due to air tonight in the US, Melissa confirmed that she would be reprising the role that was really her breakthrough, as Sookie St. James, Lorelai Gilmore’s trusted BFF and the chef at her hotel.
The show ended in 2007 after seven years and 154 episodes, but Netflix announced back in February that they would be reviving the show with four special 90-minute episodes – a movie mini-series, if you will.
‘There has been something that I have been asked about so, so many times and it hasn’t worked out and there is… they’re making four new movies of the Gilmore Girls which is a show which was near and dear to my heart for four years and we could not get those schedules to work,’ Melissa tells Ellen DeGeneres.
‘And there was a whole thing. And then I was gonna be out of the country and blah, blah, blah. And literally about an hour and half ago we figured out that I’m gonna go back and do it and I am so excited. And they are gonna be amazing.’

Melissa has been on fire lately, gearing up for an all-female Ghostbusters re-make with Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon, plus, of course, there was THAT Colours Of The Wind karaoke performance on Lip Sync Battle.
Basically, she's a comedy queen and her latest announcement is all we needed going into the weekend.
