She broke the rules
Once upon a time, we thought that Prince William and Kate Middleton were the most rebellious royals. They have ripped up the royal rule book on several occasions, from their decision to write their own wedding guest list to living outside of London for a few years.
However, then Meghan Markle came along. The former Hollywood actress has broken royal protocol many times since she started dating Prince Harry in 2016, and everyone loves her for it. She opens and closes her own car door, she wears trousers, and she talks openly about feminism.
But her arrival at the British Fashion Awards caught the world's attention - not only because it was kept under wraps until she appeared on the stage, but because she broke royal protocol yet again.
The Duchess of Sussex attended the awards ceremony alongside the likes of Kate Moss and Kendall Jenner to present the British Women's Wear Designer of The Year Award to Clare Waight Keller - the woman behind her beautiful Givenchy wedding dress.
According to Hello!, when presenting the award Meghan told the audience: 'When you chose to wear a certain designer, we’re not just a reflection of their creativity and their vision but we’re also an extension of their values, of something in the fabric so to speak that is much more meaningful.'
Clare gushed: 'This woman is so amazing. I got to know Meghan on such a personal level, and to have someone like that trust you in an incredible moment in their life is something that is just the most unbelievable honour and I can’t thank you enough.'

While pictures of the Duchess' cradling her bump have saturated the internet today, eagle eyed fans noticed that Meghan was actually wearing dark nail varnish, which is usually against the rules for royals because the Queen allegedly finds coloured varnishes 'vulgar'.
