Thomas Markle might not be a duke or lord, but Meghan Markle’s father is quickly becoming internet royalty. It’s hard when your family lives overseas (let alone have a million of royal duties to do), but Thomas has been trying stay connected to Meghan by reading about her online. We know this, because there’s actually photographic evidence.
The 73 year old was snapped at an internet cafe in his Mexican hometown Rosarito, sitting at a desktop with his computer screen in full view. Over his shoulder, an online article with a massive picture of Harry and Meghan’s iconic engagement shot was clearly visible - presumably with news about Meghan. It’s too cute. We can’t take it. We need to call our parents immediately.
A source told The Sun, ‘Thomas lives in a fairly remote spot and his internet regularly goes down. He can find himself cut off from the outside world. “He usually heads into town a few times each week when he loses connection — to check his emails and, since his daughter began dating Harry, look at the latest news.’
Thomas will be in attendance at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding this May 19, as he’ll be walking his daughter down the aisle at St George’s Chapel. It’ll be a tender moment for the two in the public eye, however getting a moment to catch up with just the two of them has proven difficult lately.
The source continued, ‘He still speaks to Meghan on the phone and has had a few chats with Harry. But communication with England can be difficult. The little internet cafés he uses have become a lifeline for him to keep up to date.’
This isn’t the first time that Thomas has melted hearts across the internet, as he was earlier this year photographed reading a comically large picture book called Images of Britain. Presumably, he was brushing up on his British knowledge ahead of the wedding as he’ll literally be related to royalty in a couple of weeks.

Meghan Markle’s mother Doria Ragland, who separated from Thomas when Meghan was a child, will also be involved with the ceremony. She’ll be driving with her daughter to Windsor Castle according to a statement from Kensington Palace.
Kensington Palace also confirmed that both Doria and Thomas would be meeting Queen Elizabeth prior to the wedding and - well - it totally makes sense that Thomas is sweating the revision.
You don’t want to make a bad impression on literally one of the most powerful women in England.
