Meg Ryan: Dennis Quaid cheated on me for years
Meg Ryan has always remained tight-lipped about her marriage to actor Dennis Quaid – until now. And the star says he cheated on her for years.
The pretty blonde actress was once one of America’s most loved rom-com queens, until she fell from grace after having an affair with Russell Crowe.
But The Women star says it was Dennis that was cheating on her for years – and believes her decision to keep quiet about it affected her public image.
She said in a US magazine interview: ‘Dennis was not faithful to me for a very long time, and that was very painful. I found out more about that after I was divorced.
‘I think I made a mistake in not talking more specifically.’ But, she adds: ‘I am not a victim. I was there. I was in that marriage for a really long time. Some days you think, “This is so crazy”, and you are all intellectual about it. And other days, it's just really, really painful.
'I think when things get played out that simply in black-and-white, it makes people feel good…The tabloid culture can't tell a complicated story.’

Ryan said that rather than sit and weep about her dip in popularity, she decided to make the most of it, instead. 'I didn't have to care about what people thought. I could…be totally under the radar and live my life.
‘I've been famous for a long time, and these last years there's been a great lull. So it's been me throwing a backpack on, travelling a lot — it's been fantastic.’
And it was while Meg was on her travels that she decided to adopt her daughter, Daisy True, from China three years ago. She says of her: ‘I don't feel like I adopted a child. I feel like I just got this unbelievable companion. Daisy is brilliant.’
And with the release of the big-budget new rom-com The Women, in which she stars with Annette Benning and Eva Mendes, it looks like her career is looking up again, too.
