Madonna responds to Elton John's nasty comments about her

Elton John had called Madonna a 'fairground stripper' and proclaimed 'her career is over'
One of Hollywood's biggest feuds continues as Madonna reacts to Elton John's claims that her 'career is over'.
It was back to business for Madonna, who was recently branded a 'fairground stripper' and a 'nightmare' by Elton John, as she opened a new branch of her Hard Candy gym in Moscow last night.
The 53-year-old stepped out for the launch in a raunchy black Givenchy dress, thigh high YSL boots and Chanel gloves, ignoring Elton's recent cutting comments about her.
Speaking on Australian TV show Sunday Night, Elton John said when asked about Madonna: 'She's such a nightmare. Sorry, her career is over. Her tour has been a disaster and it couldn't happen to a bigger c***.'
He continued: 'If Madonna had any common sense she would have made a record like 'Ray Of Light' and stayed away from the dance stuff and just been a great pop singer and make great pop records, which she does brilliantly.
'But no, she had to go and prove she looks like a f****** fairground stripper. She's been so horrible to Gaga,' he added.

MADONNA AND ELTON JOHN FUED RAMBLES ON
Now a 'friend' of Madonna has said to the Huffington Post that the singer couldn't care less about the comments.
They said: 'I honestly do not understand his need to trash the crap out of her over and over again. He says she has no authority, but apparently he has authority? He needs to hate on her.
'To say her tour is a disaster is just silly. She is selling out arenas, singing new material and a few classic hits. He will be singing the same old songs until he dies.'
The source added: 'Ultimately, she doesn't care what he has to say about her in public or private. She has nothing to prove to anyone, especially Elton John.'
OUR VERDICT: MADONNA'S MDNA TOUR COMES TO LONDON
This isn't the first time the two pop icons have come to blows (and something tells us it won't be the last). Elton had previously accused Madonna of lip-syncing during her live shows and the pair came head-to-head at this year's Golden Globes in the best original song category.
When asked during his red carpet interview what he thought of his rival's chances of winning, he responded by saying: 'Madonna hasn't got a f****** chance of winning tonight.' She had the last laugh, then, when she took home the prestigious accolade.
