Lea Michelle and Cory Monteith hooked up after three years of sizzling chemistry on the set of Glee, and we must admit, we always suspected a romance might be in the offing. Now it seems we weren't the only ones, after show creator Ryan Murphy said he always knew they'd end up together.

Walking the red carpet at the PaleyFest Icon Awards in Beverley Hills, Ryan said: 'I directed them in their first scene together and they had that sort of chemistry that you can't fake, and I said, "Uh-oh,". So I did kind of know. I take credit.'

Lea Michele and Cory Monteith hit the red carpet shortly after, and agreed that Ryan encouraged their relationship.

'Yes, I would definitely say he is my matchmaker for sure,' Ms Michelle joked to reporters on the red carpet.

Lea Michele and Cory Monteith were all smiles as they joined the rest of the Glee cast on the red carpet at the Awards.

The on and off screen couple were there to honour the work of Glee's creator, Ryan Murphy.

Tweeting after the event, Lea said: 'A beautiful night honoring the amazing @MrRPMurphy:) So happy for him. What a joy to be in such an amazing room with such incredible people.'
