Lana Del Rey has clarified her anti-feminist quotes in a new interview with James Franco.
Remember last year when Lana Del Rey said that she didn't think that feminism was an interesting concept to her? Yep, actual words that came out of her actual mouth.
Well now Lana has come forward to clarify exactly what she meant when she told Fader magazine: 'I'm more interested in, you know, SpaceX and Tesla, what's going to happen with our intergalactic possibilities. Whenever people bring up feminism, I'm like, god. I'm just not really that interested.' (No, we don’t know what SpaceX and Tesla are either).
In a new interview with James Franco, (we love it when famous people interview other famous people) for Rolling Stone Lana said: 'the luxury we have as a younger generation is being able to figure out where we want to go from here, which is why I've said things like, 'I don't focus on feminism, I focus on the future.' Which kind of makes sense.
Lana continued: 'It's not to say that there's not more to do in that area. I've gotten to witness through history the evolution of so many movements and now I'm standing at the forefront of new technological movements.'
Of course, it's not *entirely* clear what she's saying here. Lana kind of seems to be admitting that feminism definitely is still an issue, whilst not really back tracking on the whole "I'm not interested" in it thing. And surely if she is focused on the future that should include feminism? And we don’t know what technology has to do with it – does she think the latest iPhone upgrade will solve all of our problems? But honestly, we're just really glad she's talking about an important subject, and is clearly open to the idea of female equality.
Which has got to be a good thing.
