Kristen Stewart’s Relationship Is ‘Tragic’ says Stephenie Meyer

The Twilight author expressed her sympathy for Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson’s relationship

Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson can barely go a day without a new rumour about their relationship hitting headlines and it’s something that Twilight author Stephenie Meyer felt the need to address as well as express her sympathy for the stars.

After the vampire film franchise catapulted both actors to global stardom the woman responsible for Twilight has now reflected on what her text has done to both Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattison. Speaking to The Times Stephenie revealed she believed the star’s success has come at a ‘heavy price’ and the subsequent interest in their relationship is ‘tragic’.

Stephenie said: ‘Here's the thing: there are some actors who are looking to be world famous, to be that household name, and although they might discover that there are a lot of negative things involved in that, it's what they want.

‘But that doesn't apply to Kristen and Rob, that's what makes it kind of ironic and tragic.’

After working with the couple of the set of each Twilight film over six years, the writer appears to share a close bond with the actors adding: ‘They don't enjoy the parts [of fame] that other people would. And I totally get that, because it would not be my thing either.’

Stephenie went on to express her guilt over what Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson have to go through on a daily basis. While she wouldn’t take anything back, the author regrets the impact it’s had on the stars, after all Stephenie can enjoy relative privacy, a luxury Kristen Stewart doesn’t have.

‘At the same time -- and this is where the guilt comes from -- it's created this nice, peaceful place for me. They took all of my heat, which I feel bad about,’ the writer said. ‘If they had the choice, I've no idea if they'd even do Twilight again. I just don't know. I think this has all come at a heavy price.'’

But the millions of fans are very happy they did!
