Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart have reportedly split after nearly four years together

Robert Pattinson has ended his three-and-a-half year relationship with Kristen Stewart, just four months after they got back together, according to reports.

The Twilight star is said to have called time on his relationship with Kristen on the night of his 27th birthday celebrations after weeks of 'miscommunication.'

The couple briefly split in December following the actress’s cheating episode with married director Rupert Sanders, but they had seemed to have patched things up.

About the latest break-up, a source told the Mirror: 'Things have been tricky for a while now but they’ve both tried hard to keep things together.

'After nearly four years, neither party was prepared to just throw in the towel. But Rob decided he needs to be single for a while and to get his head sorted. He basically needed some ‘him’ time.

The insider continued: 'Everywhere he goes there are reminders of Kristen’s infidelity, and it all got a bit much. They’re still in touch though, and are planning to meet up to talk things through in a couple of weeks.'

It's thought that Kristen moved out of the home she shared with Rob last week and spent the night of his 27th birthday just two miles down the road at a friend's house.
