The Girls Aloud star has opened up on Cheryl Cole’s X Factor humiliation
While Cheryl Cole continues to keep a low profile following her dismissal from the American X Factor, her Girls Aloud bandmate Kimberley Walsh has spoken out about the furore.
Speaking in her weekly column in OK! Magazine, Kimberley vehemently defended her close friend amidst a storm of media speculation following the X Factor fallout.
‘It’s relentless and we’re all bored of it,’ Kimberley said. ‘It’s also really frustrating to hear so many fabrications and complete lies written about her.’
Kimberley also used the column to set the record straight about Cheryl’s mother Joan, who has been accused of being a controlling influence in her daughter’s life.
She added: ‘Especially (when the lies are about) her mum Joan too, as she is the most harmless person ever and she never interferes with Cheryl's personal or professional life. Some people form an opinion about things they have no idea about.'

Kimberley’s outburst comes amid rumours suggesting that Cheryl has rekindled her romance with ex-husband Ashley Cole in the wake of her dismissal from the X Factor panel. Newspaper reports claimed that the singer spent the night at the couple’s former marital home after turning to Ashley for a shoulder to cry on after becoming depressed over the X Factor humiliation.
However, Kimberley insists that she is fine. She stated: ‘Cheryl has plenty of friends and family around her. She’s very happy and I love her lots.’
In other Cheryl news, there are whispers that she may be taking a leaf out of fellow singer and one-time rival Lily Allen’s book and moving to the country and hanging up her pop star boots. Chezza has reportedly splashed out on a country pile in Surrey and is ready to shun the limelight for a quieter life.
