Kiefer Sutherland faces 48-day jail sentence for driving under influence
KIEFER SUTHERLAND COULD face 48 days in jail for driving under the influence (DUI).
The 24 actor has pleaded 'no contest' to a drink driving charge, meaning he does not contest the charges made against him.
The Los Angeles City Attorney's office is recommending to the judge presiding over the case that Sutherland be sentenced to 48 days in jail – 30 days for the DUI conviction, and an additional 18 days for violating his probation.
The star was pulled over in September for making an illegal U-turn in Hollywood and subsequently failed a breathalyser test at the scene.
The potential jail term reflects Sutherland's previous charges as this was the actor's fourth DUI arrest.
Speaking of his latest misdemeanour, Sutherland said: 'I'm very disappointed in myself for the poor judgement I exhibited recently, and I'm deeply sorry for the disappointment and distress this has caused my family, friends and co-workers.
