Katy Perry: My fame is disgusting

The singer has since backtracked over her comments

Katy Perry has spoken out saying that she's sick and tired of being famous.

The singer, who has a behind-the-scenes movie called Part Of Me coming out this summer, has described her fame as disgusting.

She said: 'Fame is just a disgusting by-product of what I do.

'It can love you, and then it can attack you. But really, I stopped focusing on what other people think a while ago,' she told Teen Vogue.

The Firework singer also explained that she was taken aback at how some of her fans get hysterical when they meet her. She said: 'I want to be as approachable as possible. I'll say, "Calm down, there's nothing to cry about." I'm not going to bite you or attack you or grant you three wishes. Let's just hang out and have a good time.'

The 27-year-old has since backtracked over her comments, which may not have sat well with many of her fans.

She wrote on Twitter: 'O the joy of something verbally said being taking out of complete context in PRINT. This is why there's a continuous ♥/☹ for the media world.

'U see, the fame quote was spoken in jest (which is typical of me) BUT it's not really about that. The fact is: my success, & u my fans have afforded me the most incredible luxury: to grow as an artist & a human. THAT, I could not be more grateful for.'

Despite the very public divorce she's just gone through with her husband of 14 months, Russell Brand, we're glad to hear that Perry isn't feeling too hard done by - things could be worse than being a beautiful, successful popstar!
