Warring Katie and Peter tried to save their marriage with counselling
Peter Andre and Katie Price underwent marriage counselling in a failed attempt to save their marriage, it has been revealed.
The Australian singer persuaded Katie to attend counselling in an attempt to ease their rows.
And it was only after the bid failed that Peter decided to walk out on the marriage, keeping his personal reasons private.
A source told The Mirror: 'It was Pete that left Katie - but not until he had done everything in his power to make the marriage work.
'Neither of them take divorce lightly and both wanted their relationship to work for the sake of the kids, if nothing else.
'Although they both went into it willingly, it was more of a band-aid gesture - a desperate final attempt to patch up the marriage and make it work.'

Katie has been attending business meetings in London, but last night managed to fit in a bit of pleasure, too, by heading to upmarket eatierie Nobu for dinner.
The model looked glamorous in a grey animal-print minidress and ever-present perma-tan.
Peter, meanwhile, was seen at the launch of the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards, better known as the Bollywood Oscars, at the Venetian hotel in Macau.
He is there to promote is new single Call The Doctor, and is set to sing four tracks - in front of a televised audience of 600 million.
Both have yet to give a detailed interview about the split, but Katie commented on Pete buying a new home to OK! magazine, saying: 'I hear Pete moves into his new place this week and I'm pleased for him. I also heard he has a new admirer, so good luck, guys!
'Once again, thanks for all your support, and don't believe what you read because people know nothing and I still haven't done any interviews during this time.'
