Katie Holmes treated Suri Cruise and her friends to a day out in the Big Apple

As the divorce drama rumbles on, Katie Holmes and Suri Cruise are trying their best to carry on as normal, this time with a day trip to the Children's Museum of the Arts in New York City.

Holmes treated her six-year-old daughter and a group of Suri's young friends to a day out at the museum followed by sweet snacks at Alice's Tea Cup.

As usual, and despite the troubles she's going through in her personal life, Holmes had nothing but smiles for the cameras as she went about her daily business, hinting at the relief she's reportedly feeling having filed for divorce.

The 33-year-old actress has not shied away from the public eye, stepping out nearly every day since the news of her impending divorce from Tom Cruise broke, while her soon-to-be ex-husband has been keeping a low profile in Los Angeles. 

KATIE HOLMES BREAKS HER DIVORCE SILENCE

Yesterday Cruise's lawyer, Bert Fields, hinted that things were about to get messy between the pair and even had a little dig at the way Holmes had been handling the situation.

Speaking to BBC Radio 1's Newsbeat, he said: 'We are letting ‘the other side’ [Katie's camp] play the media until they wear everyone out and then we’ll have something to say.'

Fields went on: 'Tactically we can’t say where Tom will file a divorce case and if he’ll be seeking joint custody of Suri.

'It’s not Tom’s style to do this publicly. He is really sad about what’s happening.'
