Kate Winslet takes over Nicole Kidman's role in movie The Reader
Kate Winslet will replace Nicole Kidman in the World War II drama The Reader, after the pregnant Aussie actress withdrew from the project.
Kidman announced she is expecting a baby with husband Keith Urban this week and speculation grew that the actress planned to scale back her work commitments in preparation for the new arrival.
Shooting was due to begin on Stephen Daldry's The Reader later this month, and Kidman pulled out of the project after announcing her pregnancy.
And now Kate Winslet has stepped into Kidman's shoes. Winslet was in fact the original choice for the movie role, but was forced to decline as other work commitments with Revolutionary Road conflicted. However the filming dates have now changed following Kidman's withdrawl and Kate is now able to star in the film.
An insider source explained: 'Everyone is happy now. Nicole as she has a baby on the way, Kate because she has this great role she originally wanted to do, and the filmmakers are too.'
