GARY BARLOW AND KATE WINSLET MAKE QUEEN’S BIRTHDAY HONOURS LIST
The Oscar winner chose an elegant black jacket with peplum detail and pencil skirt combo from Alexander McQueen to collect the prestigious honour at her investiture ceremony, finishing off the ensemble with simple black pumps and a custom-made, magpie-inspired fascinator by milliner Natalie Ellner.
Lancôme face Kate revealed that the Queen asked her how much she enjoyed acting while bestowing the honour, to which Kate replied:
‘I said, yes I liked it, but not as much as being a mother. She said, “it is the best job”.’

‘It is a completely different kind of honour. The sense of gravity is enormous and you very much feel you are being acknowledged by the whole country in a way,’ she said.
‘There is something incomparably overwhelming about that.’
Hatmaker Natalie Ellner revealed to the Telegraph that Kate also had a hand in creating her eclectic headpiece for the once-in-a-lifetime occasion,
‘It's taken about a month to create, going backwards and forwards with Kate,’ she said. ‘She had a lot of input, it had to reflect her personality.
‘It's such an important, once-in-a-lifetime occasion, it's nice to have a statement piece… this is what evolved.’
