A friend of Kate Middleton has claimed the Duchess is trying a new treatment…

Kate Middleton has been undergoing hypnotherapy after her severe morning sickness, according to outspoken childhood friend Jessica Hay, who made the claims in an interview with an Australian magazine.

The Duchess of Cambridge's old acquaintance reportedly told publication New Idea that she is trying the treatment to combat negative thoughts about food, after being admitted to hospital with the condition hyperemesis gravidarum late last year.

According to Hay, who also claims Kate Middleton told her about the royal engagement and pregnancy before anyone else (really?!) Kate has been using the the therapy since before Christmas.

'Kate still looks at food and feels nauseous,' Hay was quoted by the Evening Standard as telling the magazine.

'She's been plagued with that feeling you have when you've had food poisoning and your stomach's shrunk.

Hay continued: 'She finds it very hard to eat a full meal and gets full very quickly.

'The hypnotherapy is taking away any negative thoughts connected with food from the morning sickness, and replacing them with cravings for healthy, nutritious food.'

The 'friend' of Kate's added that the Duchess is 'very happy', and finally 'starting to enjoy the pregnancy,' after getting her morning sickness under control.

She said: 'All in all, Catherine's very happy. With so much family around her and William, they're starting to enjoy the pregnancy after such a traumatic start.'

This isn't the first time Kate Middleton's childhood friend has revealed insider details of the Duchess's life.

Just weeks before Kate was forced to reveal her pregnancy early, Hay told the same Australian magazine the Duchess was expecting, and would make an announcement before Christmas.

'They’re planning to make an announcement in December,' Hay told the magazine. 'William and Kate are focused on starting a family.'

'It seems very traditional, but of course they’ll be happy with boys or two girls, they don’t want more,' she added.

'They’ve discussed it endlessly and don’t want to be older parents.'

We're not sure she'll be a friend for much longer...
