The Duchess of Cambridge is back... the new mum has been beaming with smiles as she meets young athletics at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park
Kate Middleton has made a glamorous return to the royal spotlight, making her first solo public appearance since the birth of baby Prince George at a SportsAid charity event at Queen Elizabeth Park today.
Wearing her signature indigo skinny jeans with towering Russell & Bromley wedges, a stripy Breton tee and a Ralph Lauren blazer, the Duchess of Cambridge met with young athletes before taking part in a game of volleyball. The new mum didn't let her heels or the facts she's royalty stop her from getting involved. And THIS is why we adore her.
Back in the early stages of her pregnancy, when Duchess Kate was suffering with acute morning sickness, she joined in a hockey game at another charity event, despite the fact she was wearing knee-high boots and a smart coat. So we'd no doubt that she's struggle to sit on the sidelines during today's event.
As a patron of SportsAid, Duchess Kate's appearance is an important one. She only took on the responsibility of the youth sports charity in April this year, to help young people build their skills, confidence and aspirations. She'll also get to watch young athletes take part in wheelchair basketball, CP football, fencing and badminton today.
She drew the line at taking party in badminton or fencing, telling the teens: 'I'd like to give it a go but I've brought the wrong shoes!'
While we've seen the royal out and about – once joining Prince William to open a marathon in Anglesey where she dressed down in jeans and a Ralph Lauren blazer, and again last month at the Tusk Conservation Awards where she rocked a floor-length gold sequinned Jenny Packham number – today's event is the very first time Kate has returned to her own royal duties, as a new mum.
