Kate Middleton 'not interested' in Prince William at university

Kate Middleton wasn't fazed by Prince William's royal status when they first met, according to reports

Kate Middleton may have looked completely smitten with Prince William as they put on a rare PDA at the Olympics last month, but according to insiders that wasn't always the case. A friend of the Duchess of Cambridge said revealed 'never showed any interest' in Prince William when they first attended university, at St Andrews in Scotland.

According to Kate Middleton's pal, who studied with her in Florence during their degree, Kate wasn't fazed when she heard Prince William would attend the same university - and was actually more interested in someone else.

'The only time I even remember talking about William was when we found out he was coming to study in Florence, we would speculate about hanging out with him, but to be honest she never showed any interest in him or talked about him that much,' Kate's friend told OK! magazine.

'She certainly wasn't going to St Andrews with the intention to snare him or anything like that. In fact she was more hung up on a guy called Harry, but things didn't work out.'

Spilling the beans on their time in Florence, the pal said Kate Middleton was quite a hit with local men, but never paid any attention to their advances.

'Italian men can be quite persuasive, but Catherine would never overreact to compliments,' the source added. 'She definitely was not a giggly sort of girl batting her eyelashes!'

According to insiders, Kate Middleton is currently taking some time out of the spotlight after a string of appearances at the Olympics, to prepare for her upcoming overseas tour with Prince William.
