Instead, Prince William will have to join the stars of the film, Elijah Wood and Cate Blanchett, alone at the Odeon cinema in Leicester Square.
A spokesperson from St James's Palace confirmed the news, saying: ‘The Duchess of Cambridge will not attend The Hobbit premiere tomorrow evening and will continue to rest privately. The Duke of Cambridge will attend as planned.’

This will not only come as a bitter disappointment to Kate Middleton fans, but also to movie producers who had hoped Kate’s appearance at the premiere would be an added boost to coverage of the film in the press.
While Prince William heads to the premiere, pregnant Kate will continue to rest at home as she recovers from the condition known as hyperemesis gravidarum, which causes expectant mothers to have constant nausea and regular vomiting.
