The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been photographed hopping inside a helicopter after a friend offered them a lift to Buckinghamshire

Kate Middleton's maternity leave is no doubt making every expectant mum insanely jealous. Just days after being spotted antiques shopping in Berkshire, pictures have been released of the pregnant Duchess of Cambridge hitching a helicopter ride.

The heavily-pregnant royal, whose baby is due next month, was seen landing in Denham, Buckinghamshire, by a couple of excited passers-by who decided to document her arrival.

The Duke and Duchess had been picked up by their friend, businessman and the current record-holder for flying around the world solo in a helicopter, Simon Oliphant-Hope. Simon picked up the pair when flying past their North Wales home, then dropped them off just on the outskirts of London, 200 miles away. What a way to beat traffic.

Kate Middleton wore blue jeans, a black scoop-neck top, a brown bouclé jacket and wore her hair tied up, with her huge baby bump could be seen protruding through her coat. She clutched on to Lupo as she entered the helicopter, while William – dressed casually in jeans, trainers, a blue shirt, blue jumper and his glasses – chatted to the pilot.

A Royal source said: ‘The flight wasn’t paid for and the helicopter wasn’t chartered. There was no cost. It was a gift, a lift from a friend.’

It's likely to be one of the few occasions we see Kate Middleton before she gives birth to her first child on 13 July. Not long now!
