The royal whisperings have fueled rumours the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge could be set to take on full time royal roles from next year, following Prince Phillip's deteriorating health.
Sources say Prince William is considering splashing as much as £5 million of his £10 million inheritance on the pad for him and Kate, should they decide to move away from Anglesey in the coming months.
This comes after it was reported Kate is keen for any children they have to grow up in a normal household, as opposed to one of the royal palaces.
It's thought William and Kate have their heart set on a home within striking distance of London, close to both Prince Charles at Highgrove, and Michael and Carole Middleton in Berkshire.

'They have started looking for a family home, ideally within striking distance of London, Highgrove and Kate’s parents in Berkshire,' one royal insider told the Mirror.
'William knows he will have to become a full-time royal sooner rather than later.'
Of William and Kate's house hunting process, they added: 'It’s not like they are scouring websites and calling agents all the time but they are keeping an eye out for properties.
'They don’t just need the perfect house. There are obvious privacy and security issues, too.'
Prince William and Kate Middleton currently divide their time between their remote home in Anglesey, where William works as an RAF search and Rescue pilot, and a cottage in the grounds of Kensington Palace.
It is believed an apartment at the palace formerly used by Princess Margaret is being renovated for William and Kate's use later this year, while the Prince was reportedly given a cottage in the grounds of Sandringham Castle by the Queen for his 30th birthday.
