The 27-year-old danced through the second half of the final with a torn ligament in her arm, ignoring the pain to perform a stunning Waltz and American Smooth.
She hurt her arm earlier in the night during her energetic performance to Don’t Stop Me Now by Queen with dance pro Artem Chigvintsev.
'I had tried to do a backflip and I thought, Oh my God, oh my God, I can’t go on. It was so painful I was gutted,' Kara told the Sun of her injury.
Now the star will need to rest for six weeks and attend physiotherapy sessions for her arm to recover.

The excited actress kissed her dancing partner live on TV, as they celebrated their win, confirming romance rumours about the couple.
'We were on cloud nine and we kissed. We were so over-whelmed by it all,' Kara said of her win.
'We get on brilliantly and it will be nice to do normal things like go to the cinema or for a meal because we spend all our time in the studio.
She added, 'He's going to cook for me in my mum and dad's kitchen. They've met him and they all get on so well.’
When they won the competition, Kara told the audience, 'I have made the most wonderful friend for life and this has been the most special experience of my life.’
Blue Peter presenter Matt Baker and his pro dance partner Aliona Vilani narrowly missed out on getting the trophy for themselves, getting as far as the final two couples in the competition.
Matt said, 'It's been great. I have absolutely thoroughly enjoyed tonight, and Kara and Artem are worthy winners. If I was at home, I would be voting for Kara as well.'
Pamela Stephenson was the first celeb to lose out in the final, telling partner James Jordan, 'James, you have been just incredible.
'You've made it the most joyful experience I've had for a really, really long time. Your talent and your patience have made it outstanding.'
