Joe Alwyn has opened up about his 'very private' relationship with Taylor Swift
But don't expect too much.
But don't expect too much.
After years of highly publicised relationships, Taylor Swift and her newest man Joe Alwyn have chosen to keep things super low profile. Seriously, think about it - can you recall a single public event that the couple have ever been to together? Well while promoting his upcoming films, the actor finally opened up about their relationship in a recent interview...by which we mean, he said pretty much nothing at all.
The Mary Queen of Scots actor told British Vogue, ‘I'm aware people want to know about that side of things. I think we have been successfully very private and that has now sunk in for people.’
And he’s not over-exaggerating here, they’ve somehow managed to steer clear of the press for the most part. According to E! News, they started dating secretly early in 2017 before The Sun finally broke the news that they were a couple. A source told the outlet, ‘Taylor and Joe are the real deal, this is a very serious relationship. But after what happened with Tom Hiddleston, they were determined to keep it quiet.’
When the insider says ‘what happened with Tom Hiddleston’, they obviously mean how that short-lived relationship was literally everywhere at the time: with their quiet moments on the beach photographed for all to see and even a little inside joke regarding an I heart T.S. tee being blown out of proportion. In fact, Tom even spoke up about and revealed it was ‘a joke between friends’ that spiralled out of control online.
He said to GQ, ‘I have to be so psychologically strong about not letting other people’s interpretations about my life affect my life. A relationship exists between two people. We will always know what it was. The narratives that are out there altogether have been extrapolated from pictures that were taken without consent or permission, with no context.’
It seems like Joe’s learned from that harrowing lesson, as he was quick to steer his British Vogue interview away from his personal life and towards what he was really there for: his career. He shut down any further Swift talk and said, ‘I really prefer to talk about work.’

TBH, we totally get it. Navigating a relationship is hard enough without millions of people’s eyes on you and being in the public eye must be so incredibly stressful. We’re rooting for you Joe and Taylor and in all honesty if privacy is a major concern for you guys, the less we know about your relationship the better.
Joe Alwyn will be starring in two films coming out later this November, The Favourite and Boy Erased.
