Total Recall star Jessica Biel spoke to The Associated Press about her engagement to singer Justin Timberlake, calling it 'wonderful' and revealing that she never expected to get married.

When it came to getting hitched, the 30-year-old actress admitted: 'It's actually not anything I ever really thought was going to happen to me or that I really wanted... And when it happened it just seemed - it just was right.'

The notoriously private couple, whose engagement was confirmed by Timberlake's grandmother, have been together since 2007, although they split briefly in 2011. Justin is thought to have proposed in December 2011.

Biel recently told the US edition of InStyle magazine that her hubby-to-be picked out her sparkler, revealing: 'I had no say whatsoever [in the ring]. I don't micromanage. He is fearless in his choices and has a real eye for design. And I'll be honest: He has better taste than I do.'

As far as wedding planning goes, Biel admits the duo are still in the early stages and says she has done 'almost nothing' to prepare, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

'I’m just enjoying being engaged. I do feel like there is a lot of time and nothing needs to be rushed. Everyone tells me that being engaged is the really special moment,' she told the paper.

'Not that it gets bad when you get married! But being engaged is just absolutely amazing. You’re in this romantic, ahhhhh, breathless moment that I’m just trying to extend as long as possible.'
