Jay-Z celebrates baby Blue's birth with a lavish New York bash

The proud dad used the re-launch of his New York club 50/50 to celebrate his first born's birth

Proud dad Jay-Z left wife Beyonce and new baby Blue at home last night, as he hit New York to re-launch his uber-glam club 40/40 at The Palazzo hotel.

Making his first public appearances since the birth of his first child, the rich rapper paid tribute to his little girl by marking the grand re-opening with a Blue-themed bash.

Seemingly sparing no-expense, Jay-Z splashed the cash on the lavish bash, laying on a Armand de Brignac Gold Champagne Towerthat stretched as high as the ceiling, plus a host of tasty treats, including buffalo wings with a ‘Blue Ivy’ cheese sauce.

‘It was a bit OTT but he’s mad about his daughter,’ one insider told the Mirror.

‘There’s nothing he wouldn’t do for her. You’d expect nothing less from the richest man in rap.’

With a host of high profile stars, including Alicia Keys, Ashanti, Diddy and business mogul Warren Buffet on the guest list, security was seriously tight - even sparking reports Beyonce might put in an appearance.

‘Everyone was on tenterhooks wondering if Bey would turn up. No wonder security was tight,’ the source added.

‘A lot of money has been pumped into Jay’s club, with state of the art 165in video screens, and they weren’t about to take any risks with gate-crashers.’

Beyonce and Jay-Z's baby Blue arrived earlier this month, with her usually private parents issuing a gushing statement about the birth.

'We are both happy to announce the arrival of our beautiful daughter,Blue Ivy Carter, born on Saturday, January 7, 2012,’ the official announcement read.

'Her birth was emotional and extremely peaceful, and we are both in heaven. She was delivered naturally at a healthy 7 lbs and it was the best experience of our lives.

'We are thankful to everyone for all your prayers, well wishes, love and support.'
