Father of Jamie Lynn Spears' unborn baby likely to escape statutory rape charges - but only just
The father of Jamie Lynn Spears' baby will not face charges for statutory rape, because he is listed as eighteen years old in his home state of Mississippi.
If Casey Aldridge, the father-to-be, had been nineteen then he would have been eligible for prosecution as Britney's little sister is only sixteen years old, but his date of birth has been confirmed as 29 April 1989. The maximum penalty for such charges is ten years in prison.
Speaking to People magazine, Aldridge's Uncle confirmed that the couple were not planning to wed.
