Jake Gyllenhaal to play Christian Grey in 50 Shades of Grey movie?

The smouldering star is the latest in a long line of actors tipped to take the lead role in E.L. James' movie re-make

With the Fifty Shades of Grey movie looming and the cast debate hotting up, we still have no idea who will play Christian Grey. From Robert Pattinson to Eddie Redmayne the rumour mill has been working overtime. And today a new name has been thrown into the mix - none other than Jake Gyllanhaal.

The actor threw himself into the mix during an interview with Ryan Seacrest on his US Radio show.

Appearing to talk new flick End of Watch, Jake seemed a little surprised when Seacrest revealed he was being considered for the Fifty Shades of Grey movie.

But gamely, Jake said 'of course' he would want to be in the running for that role.

So could be be the one to bag it?

'There are rumours that you are being considered, of may be interested in playing that role,' Seacrest said during the chat.

Jake replied: 'That's super-flattering. I've not heard that, but if that' true then that's a nice thing, it's always nice to be considered.

'I mean, of course, of course I wouldn't pass up that role.'

Eeek.

Jake joins half of Hollywood in the line-up of possible contenders for the role of Christian Grey, including Robert Pattinson, Michael Fassbender, Eddie Redmayne and Christian Bale, to name but a few.

Last week it was rumoured Emma Watson might even take on the role of Anastasia Steele - but only if Ryan Gosling won the lead.

Her Vampire Diaries pal Nina Dobrev revealed; ‘@EmWatson told me that she'd be more interested in playing Ana in the 'Fifty Shades of Grey' movie if Ryan Gosling were to be Christian. #mugglelove.’
