Who is Gwyneth Paltrow's 'venomous' ex-friend?
Gwyneth Paltrow has sparked a frenzy of speculation by publicly denouncing a former friend who was 'venomous and dangerous' and 'hell-bent on taking me down.'
Writing for her weekly Goop newsletter, the Oscar-winner described how she had a 'frenemy', who 'did what they could to hurt me.'
Writing emotionally, Paltrow described the incident as leaving her 'deeply upset,' but later feeling 'deep relief and… happiness' after the former friend suffered something 'unfortunate and humiliating.'
So who is the frenemy in question? The web is abuzz with rumours that Paltrow is referring to Winona Ryder, who was once a very close friend.
The pair were inseparable for a time, sharing a flat at the start of their careers. When Paltrow was dating Ben Affleck, she even set up Ryder with his best friend, Matt Damon.
But the relationship reportedly turned sour after Paltrow won an Oscar for Shakespeare in Love, a role that Ryder is believed to have been offered first.
