Everything you need to know about Harry and Meghan's new charity
Earlier this year, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced that they would be splitting from the charity foundation established by Harry and his brother, Prince William. The royals set up the Royal Foundation in 2009 so their decision to part ways only fuelled rumours of a feud between the two. However, they confirmed that they were going in different directions to focus on separate causes.
It was later announced that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were starting their own charitable foundation and details have now been made public on the Companies House website. While it hasn't officially launched yet, the site reveals that it will be called Sussex Royal - just like their joint Instagram account - and their first project will be protecting lions in Africa.
They have visited the continent on numerous occasions, and they reportedly 'fell in love under the stars' in Botswana. Harry has also spoken about how his father Prince Charles took him and William to South Africa shortly after the death of their mother, Princess Diana, to 'get away from it all' and revealed: '[it's] where I feel more like myself than anywhere else in the world.'
However, not everyone is convinced by the name of the foundation, with one royal insider telling The Sun: 'The new name is all about Harry and Meghan building their brand and doing it their way.
'But the name is a little surprising as we were expecting something a bit more traditional.'
The charity was registered on July 1st, and they have reportedly hired PR director Sara Latham and have chosen the Royal Foundation's director Natalie Campbell to join the team.
The source added: 'Natalie is great and was already leading on much of the Sussexes’ work so it was a natural progression.
