Gone Girl: The Movie looks like it has its very first castmember. Ben Affleck is currently in talks to take on the lead role of Nick Dunne in Gillian Flynn's best-selling novel, according to Deadline.
Fox took on the movie adaptation last July in a rumoured seven-figure deal and they already have Reese Witherspoon on board to produce the movie. Those worried about how close to the book the film will be needn't worry, either – as author Gillian Flynn has already written a first draft of the screenplay and is rewriting it as we speak with director David Fincher. How exciting?!
Gone Girl follows the story of Nick and Amy Dunne who relocate their lives from New York City to a small town in Missouri where Nick is from. Shortly after their fifth wedding anniversary, Amy goes missing, and her husband Nick becomes a prime suspect in the police case. The story then unfolds from both Nick and Amy's points of view, leading the reader to question whether Nick really had it in him to kill his own wife.
Reese Witherspoon is not only on the team of producers, but is also rumoured to be starring alongside Ben Affleck, in the role of Amy. The A-list actor is talks with Warner Bros, discussing whether he can star in Gone Girl, but still direct his next film, Live By Night, in January. We spy another Oscar...
