From Alexa sipping espresso Martinis to Karlie Kloss getting her make-up did in a cab, here’s what really happened at the BFAs through the lens of the celeb Instagram accounts…

Hats off to Karlie Kloss’ make-up artist. Applying mascara by torchlight in the back of a cab is no easy feat...

Suzy Menkes offered a glimpse of the auditorium at The London Coliseum before the guests had chance to take their seats…

Suzy also revealed the pain-staking preparation going into the event. Captioning this Instagram shot ‘Love watching the Swarowski crystals laid one by one for tonight 's British Fashion Awards.’

Once the awards kicked off, Marie Claire’s Tanya Philipson took her seat at the round table, complete with her very own personalised Edie Parker clutch

Suzy Menkes was the proud owner of the AAA pass everyone wish they had. She even got close enough to snap Kate Moss downing glass of wine before hitting the stage to present Sarah Burton with the Red Carpet Award...

And so was Rihanna, who shared this snap of her talking to award winner Edward Enninful with Naomi Campbell elegantly draped around her, naturally.

One of the most photographed moments of the evening was when John Galliano took to the stage, which Suzy Menkes eloquently explained: ‘John Galliano presented an Outstanding Achievement award at the British Fashion Awards to his dear friend Anna Wintour, whom John said had supported him through good and bad times’

With the evening almost over, the dancing started… 

One of the final parting shots came from Rita Ora’s stylist Kyle Devolle… 'The British fashion awards was fun!'

From the London Coliseum it was onto Café Royal for Edward Enninful’s after-party where Rihanna made a quick outfit switch-up… 

With that, the night was over. Confirmed by Henry Holland’s captionned pic: ‘Ladies and gentlemen. #thebritishfashionawards is over.’

But it wasn’t all over for some guests. Karlie Kloss, one of the stars of the Victoria’s Secret show, shared this alarming snap: ‘Last night after a 17hour day running around London with the @VictoriasSecret #Angels and attending the #BFAs, I squeezed in a midnight work out with my trainer #JustinGelband to get ready for the #VSFashionShow (Dedication....or insanity?’
