It has been ten long months since we last saw Hannah, Shoshanna, Marnie and Jessa and we’ve been dying to see what Lena Dunham has in store for the fifth season of her TV show, GIRLS. Well, wait no longer, as HBO has released a new promo showing a change of scenery and the usual body positivity from Miss Dunham.
Hannah Horvath (played by creator/director/writer Lena Dunham) starts off the promo with her hilarious wit, saying 'I worked very, very hard to overcome the challenges of my non-traditional body type,' while taking part in what we can assume is a sexy photoshoot for her new boyfriend. The other GIRLs also appear, with Shoshanna in Japan, Jessa inexplicably in a wedding dress and Marnie trying to round the group together. While the GIRLs may be older, they are definitely none the wiser and we can expect another season of hilarity and social awkwardness.
Lena Dunham has been slowly giving fans a sneak peek of the latest season, with her Instagram showing the annoyingly brilliant Marnie is getting hitched...

Captioning the photo, 'The secret is outtt. Entertainment Weekly got ahold of Marnie's wedding photo... How pretty is @aw? She was a bride twice in 2015.'
The photo comes after the release of GIRLS' season five trailer at the end of 2015, which showed that the four girls will be seeing a lot more of each other, to their annoyance.

Season five looks to see the foursome's second wedding for the 20-somethings as Marnie (Allison Williams) finally marries folk artist boyfriend Desi, who she got engaged to at the end of season four. Hannah (Lena Dunham), Shoshanna (Zosia Mamet) and Jessa (Jemima Kirke) are all seen in matching bridesmaids outfits for the big day, with Williams' posting this uh-mazing Instagram of all of them, captioning the photo: ‘Biggest secret I’ve ever had to keep for the show… I had two weddings in one year. One was a dream, the other was… Marnie’s… Get excited.’

In a case of art imitating life, Allison got married in September to CollegeHumor founder Ricky Van Veen and it looks like her GIRLS co-stars will be joining her for another wedding – albeit on-screen.
The trailer suggests some quintessential GIRLS hijinks with Marnie’s nuptial make-up disaster being a particular highlight. Allison hinted at the story earlier this year when she posted this Insta: ‘Took half my makeup off. Guess why Marnie might have this insane look? #90sLips #Season5.’ It looks like the show is pulling out all the stops to embarrass its lead characters, natch.

Hannah is also sporting her own unique brand of attire in the trailer, as she’s tied her lilac bridesmaid's dress into a bralet and skirt - as you do.
With Hannah breaking up with Adam, Shoshanna moving to Japan, Jessa helping birth babies and Marnie accepting a proposal at the end of Season 4, Season 5 is looking to be all about mending broken bridges in the girls’ friendships, but with the requisite GIRLS drama of course. Despite Hannah attending Marnie’s wedding in the trailer, it seems the critical character has some reservation, with Hannah telling her new beau Fran (Jake Lacy), ‘She’s going to be married to someone she barely knows.’
GIRLS' fifth season premieres in the UK in February 2016.
