George Clooney is tipped to play Steve Jobs in a film biopic of the Apple founder's life
With the sad passing of Apple pioneer Steve Jobs last month, it was only a matter of time before Hollywood started planning a film of his life, with George Clooney hotly tipped to land the lead role.
According to reports the actor is up against his former ER co-star Noah Wyle to secure the part of Jobs, who died at the beginning of October after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.
Filming for the biopic is expected to start in the US next year, and will chart the life of the Apple co-founder and computing entrepreneur who revolutionised the electronics market with the launch of the iPod, iPhone and iPad.
It’s understood that Sony Pictures are behind the project, which is based on a script by The Social Network writer Aaron Sorkin, who adapted Walter Isaacson’s Steve Jobs biography.
But the casting directors may have a tougher decision to make than first thought. Clearly, Clooney is a bigger box office star and the hot favourite to clinch the role, yet Wyle has played Jobs on screen before, in the critically acclaimed Emmy-nominated TV film, Pirates of Silicone Valley.
But who would you rather see play Steve Jobs in the film? Who do you think will land the role? Tell us in the comments box below.
