Could Fergie replace Fern as the new face of This Morning?
Fergie is reportedly in talks with ITV to replace Fern Britton as Philip Schofield’s sidekick on This Morning.
The Duchess of York put herself forward for the role after meetings about making more documentaries for the channel.
Sources at ITV say she is a strong contender for the spot on the sofa, and could even beat off competition from the likes of Holly Willoughby, Fiona Phillips and Christine Bleakley.
A source told The Sun: ‘The Duchess came in to see the team and later that evening she called back to ask if she could be kept in mind for Fern's replacement.
‘She is a big fan of the show and is keen to carry on her TV work. She loves interviewing.
‘As a mum, she is empathetic. The producers think she could actually be a good contender.

‘Even if she doesn't end up doing the job, we would still love her to make films for us and she could definitely be a stand-in host.’
A spokeswoman for the show said: ‘We are talking to a number of people at the moment, but will not be confirming who will be taking over from Fern until later in the year.’
Fergie is said to be keen to continue her work in television, which, along with her two documentaries for ITV, has seen her be a special correspondent for NBC’s Today Show and a substitute host on CNN’s Larry King Live show.
