Samantha Cameron nabs sold out M&S dress thanks to friends in high places
Style spotters all over the UK lauded Samantha Cameron when she first stepped out in her dotty, vintage-style M&S dress during the Conservative party conference, however, it turns out her £65 'ordinary' fashion choice wasn't so ordinary after all.
David Cameron's wife had reportedly had her eye on the frock - part of the new M&S 125 collection - for some time, but was having trouble tracking it down. One call to Stuart Rose, who she'd met at a recent party, and it was couriered straight over.
According to M&S insiders, Rose was so determined to find the right dress for Sam Cam, he ordered staff to scour each and every one of his 600 stores to try and find the ruched neck, puff-sleeved design, which sold out almost instantly when it first hit the shelves back in May.
Only 2,000 were made and the only one that was found was a size 14 - two sizes too big for Samantha. However, one of the store's dressmakers made sure it was taken in and tailored for Sam's size 10 frame before it was sent over.
Whether David Cameron is ahead in the polls or not, we'd definitely give Sam Cam our vote.
