Ellie Goulding Tells Marie Claire What It Was REALLY Like Inside Kate Middleton’s Wedding

Ellie Goulding is Marie Claire’s fabulous February cover star, and as well as dishing with details on her love life, the chart-topping songstress has revealed what it was really like to attend Kate Middleton and Prince William’s royal wedding.

The Burn singer was handpicked by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to perform at their wedding reception in April 2011, and it seems she did well to keep tight-lipped for so long.

‘In the weeks before, everyone I know was talking about the wedding, and I was sat like [puts knuckles in her mouth], trying not to say anything,’ Ellie says in the new issue of Marie Claire. ‘I kept it to myself for so long – but no one would have believed me anyway.’

But did she actually mingle with the royal couple? ‘I talked to William and Kate quite a bit. They’re just a really awesome couple, lovely people, so I understand why people are fascinated by them.

‘It was a really beautiful night – but then, I haven’t been to many weddings.’

As well as talking about her former relationship with Radio 1’s Greg James, single Ellie looks ahead to her own wedding.

‘Well, it might be nice to have a wedding one day, mightn’t it?,’ she contemplates. Before adding: ‘I quite like being by myself. What’s wrong with that?’ 

Tweeting about her stunning cover shoot, Ellie wrote: 'Thank you @marieclaireuk for having me as your cover girl. It's so, so cool.'
