Oh dear... ITV’s new morning show, Daybreak, doesn’t seem to have won the viewers over – with many opting to switch over, or switch off.
The broadcasters spent millions on poaching hosts Christine Bleakley and Adrian Chiles over from the BBC – but has the gamble paid off?
Little over a week after the programme replaced long-running GMTV, and they’ve already lost a fifth of their viewers – from one million, down to 800,000.
Still very respectable figures, of course – but far less than rivals BBC Breakfast, who have secured a cool 1.4 million this week.
Since its launch, loyal GMTV fans have hit Facebook, Twitter and even the Marie Claire comments section, to air their complaints and call for the old show to be reinstated.
Now, a YouGov poll for TV Biz has found that the majority of viewers prefer the old GMTV format and presenters, in comparison to its successor – with only 16 % saying they thought Daybreak was better.
