Beckham admits he was so star-struck by Tom Cruise, he named his son after the movie star
David Beckham has confessed he and Victoria named their youngest son, Cruz, after their movie star pal Tom Cruise.
Accustomed to moving in A-list circles, Becks has admitted that he was so star-struck when he first met Cruise that he turned to wife Posh and said: ‘Cruise is a great name, but we could spell it different,’ reveals the footballer, adding: ‘And also, living in Spain, Cruz is spelled the way it is in Spanish. So that's why we got it.’

While eldest son Brookyn was named after his place of conception, and Romeo, well, perhaps there were high hopes of a becoming a ladies’ man... Cruz must now follow in the footsteps of a multi-million dollar movie star.
Beckham’s admission appears in his latest book, The Beckham Experiment, written by Grant Wahl. In it he confesses the burgeoning friendship with Cruise prompted him to consult the movie star whenever he faced a big decision.
Nearly an entire chapter is dedicated to the ‘bromance’ between Becks and Cruise, who first met in 2003. The duo now share the same agent and PR firm – at Cruise’s insistence. However, Beckham maintains he hasn't followed Cruise in his Scientology beliefs.
