Overjoyed parents-to-be David and Victoria Beckham ended months of speculation earlier this week, by confirming Mrs B will welcome a baby girl come summer. But now David has revealed they were first told to expect a boy, after doctors made a mistake during Victoria’s three-month scan.

With three boisterous boys already running the household, Victoria has made no secret of her wish to have a girl, in the past speaking of how the pitter patter of tiny female feet would finally complete the household.
‘We have so much testosterone in our house it is crazy,’ she joked during an interview with chat show host Jimmy Fallon earlier this year.
Now David and Victoria's wish has finally been granted after David confirmed they were ‘over the moon’ to be expecting a girl.
But the footballing star has now revealed they were initially told to expect a boy, after medics made a mistake during the first scan.

'When you've had three boys you just kind of assume that you're going to have another one,’ David joked in a new interview with US radio host Ryan Seacrest.
'Funnily enough, when we went to have the three-month scan they [the doctors] said, “Oh, it looks like a boy.” We were, like, "Oh, OK, great." Almost like a five-a-side team.'
Explaining why they kept the sex of their new baby a secret for so long, David revealed the doctor's diagnosis changed when they went back for a second time.
'We went back and they were like, “Actually, it's a girl,”’ he said. ‘The emotion hit us [then]. It's amazing.'
'It's nice to be prepared. The boys are so excited, thinking that they're going to have a little sister.'
Talk the Beckham baby could be a girl first started to circle after Posh’s pal Eva Longoria was rumoured to be organising a pink-themed baby shower, at exclusive LA hotel Chateau Marmont.
It’s thought the Desperate Housewives star has booked a suite of plush rooms for the celebration, which will take place before the baby’s birth this summer.
