Cheryl Cole's Latest Career Move? She's Only Joining The Cast Of Coronation Street

Cheryl Cole will team up with Michelle Keegan and co on the cobbles for a special episode of the ITV soap this Christmas

Cheryl Cole will be spending her Christmas on the cobbles this month, as it's been revealed the Girls Aloud singer will be heading to Coronation Street. In new pictures released by ITV today, Cheryl can be seen hanging out at the Rovers Return alongside Michelle Keegan and the rest of the cast, as she takes part in a special episode of ITV's annual Text Santa campaign.

The episode, which will be screened on Friday 20 December, sees Cheryl will head to the Rovers looking for her childhood friend, barmaid Tina (that's Michelle Keegan to non Corrie lovers). She visits with the intention of taking her up to Newcastle for Christmas. But of course, things don't quite go to plan.

Talking about the cameo role, Cheryl said: 'It has always been a part of my life, we'd watch it as kids every night. It's surreal to be part of something I've watched my whole life.'

She added: 'It's great to be able to support six wonderful charities and I really hope that this year's appeal makes a difference to many lives.'

It's not the first time Cheryl has broken into acting. Last year, she starred alongside Cameron Diaz in What To Expect When You're Expecting, appearing as a judge on a TV talent show.
