Despite only coming fourth in the competition, it’s thought Cheryl Cole’s cheeky X Factor protégée Cher Lloyd has already been offered a recording contract – by none other than number one Black Eyed Pea Will.i.Am.

After stepping in and lending a hand during the ‘judges houses’ stage of the show, Mrs C’s famous pal has made no secret of the fact that he is a massive fan of Cher, even revealing at the time he was desperate to sign her to his label.

It's thought the pair instantly hit it off, with Will describing the teen as a 'ball of energy'.

‘I really liked that girl Cher. I would sign her - tomorrow, today, yesterday,’ he told X Magazine in November. ‘I wanted to sign her as I left the house.’

And now it seems – with Tinchy Strider and rap mogul Jay-Z hot on his heels – the star has made good on his promise, and offered Cher a recording contract.

After taking to the stage for a duet with Cher during Saturday’s finals, it’s thought Will.i.am stuck around to hear the results, and could even have offered a singing deal there and then, reportedly promising to take her ‘under his wing’.

‘He vowed to help her grow and develop as a recording artist,’ a show source told the Sun.

‘Will also spoke to her family, promising them he'll try to make her a star.’

So we doubt that’s the last we’ve seen of Cher Lloyd.
