Sarah Jessica Parker (and other celebs) on their euphoric birthing experiences
Well, this doesn't sound so bad...
Well, this doesn't sound so bad...
In a recent interview, Divorce star Sarah Jessica Parker, admitted to wanting to 'give birth as often as I could, if I could.' After having her and Matthew Broderick's son, James, in 2002, SJP later had twins, Marion Loretta and Tabitha Hodge, via a surrogate after struggling to get pregnant naturally. And giving birth is obviously on her mind as she also Instagrammed a #tbt of herself and Matthew holding James captioned, 'A day I would happily relive. Over and over.'
SJP told The Edit: 'James is like, "why do you always want to talk about that?" 'I'm like, "Because it's the greatest!" There is this suspended animation around [birth]: everything goes away; the entire world is sucked up; time suspends. It's just you and, in my case, my husband, and this child, and it's absolute euphoria.'
So naturally, we wanted to see what else the A-list have said about their own birthing experiences...
Beyoncé
'I felt very maternal around 8 months. And I thought I couldn't become any more until I saw the baby... But it happened during my labour because I had a very strong connection with my child. I felt like when I was having contractions, I envisioned my child pushing through a very heavy door. And I imagined this tiny infant doing all the work, so I couldn't think about my own pain... We were talking. I know it sounds crazy, but I felt a communication.'
Alicia Silverstone
'The first 14 hours were almost sexy. The [natural hormone] oxytocin was doing all this magic and it felt amazing.'
Kim Kardashian
'The first thing I did was go and look at my vagina in the mirror. It looks better-looking than before. Labour was honestly the easiest thing ever. I did not feel one thing. Like, it was not hard. And then just staring at her…Everything that they say that happens is so true, like you fall so in love and it’s this deep connection.'

'It was a transcendental experience. I just went to this whole other world. I basically had to be the little soldier that I am and really focus on this new beautiful creature coming out of me.'
Kate Hudson
'She [Goldie Hawn] brings a magnolia flower. And she sort of starts to do these visualisations with me. And she’s going, ‘Imagine your va-jay-jay as a large magnolia flower blossoming.'
