The French First Lady's proud father-in-law has confirmed she is expecting a baby
After weeks of rumours, Carla Bruni’s father-in-law Pal Sarkozy has confirmed the French First Lady IS expecting her first baby with hubby Nicolas Sarkozy.
Letting slip the family's exciting news, the French President’s father told German newspaper Bild that he is ‘glad to be having a grandchild,’ but added he does not know the sex of the baby.
‘I'm glad to be having a grandchild,’ the proud grandfather-to-be revealed, brushing aside rumours the ex-model could be expecting twins.
Sarkozy senior said neither Carla nor Nicolas 'want to know the sex the child,' but gushed that 'I'm sure it's a girl who'll be as beautiful as Carla.'
The super-slim premiere’s wife first sparked rumours she could be expecting earlier this month, when she stepped out at a memorial event sporting a suspiciously rounded tummy.

Carla also refused to answer directly when asked by a reporter: ‘Are you pregnant?’ – instead giving a rambling, cryptic response – and later pulled out of a planned appearance at film festival Cannes.
Despite keeping quiet on her rumoured baby news, last week showbiz magazine Voici claimed Carla is definitely expecting, and will welcome a baby in October.
The publication added the pregnancy is an ‘open secret’ among French ministers, although officials are yet to comment on the news.
Congratulations to the happy family!
