Cara Delevingne has revealed the real reason she cut off her hair
Turns out it wasn't just for her new movie
Turns out it wasn't just for her new movie
Cara Delevingne shocked the world when she revealed her new platinum buzz cut back in April. The haircut choice came from her role in Life in a Year, in which she plays a young woman diagnosed with incurable cancer who is given one year to live.
At least, we thought it was because of her film role – but the supermodel turned actress has revealed that the movie wasn't the only reason she opted for her new 'do. In an interview with WWD, she said that she wants to be a positive role model for young people.
'Just doing it really was liberating,' Cara said. 'The kind of power and not needing hair to be beautiful, and that was the message I thought I needed to spread.
'Probably the thing I'm most passionate about at the moment is being an inspiration for young girls and the youth of today, because that's the most important thing.
'Whether it's by doing a film or working with charities or doing certain docu-series, what I'm trying to do is spread positive messages.'
Earlier this year, the Kids in Love actress announced that she had penned her first novel, a coming of age story that will be released in October.

Of course, she isn't the only celeb to have shaved off her locks and dye them platinum blonde recently. Kristen Stewart did the same thing earlier this year, and Katy Perry has also recently changed up her look in favour of a platinum blonde pixie crop. Clearly a trend has started...
We applaud Cara for wanting to be an inspiration for young people everywhere.
