Cameron Diaz reveals why she waited until her forties to marry
And it's SO sweet
And it's SO sweet
Words by Jadie Troy-Pryde
We fell in love with Cameron Diaz in movies like The Mask, There's Something About Mary, and - of course - Charlie's Angels (which is getting a badass remake, by the way), and despite seeming to step out of the limelight in recent years she's actually been working busy doing other things - like becoming Zoella's life coach over Skype.
But something she wanted to talk about recently was the reason behind waiting until her forties to get married. In January 2015, she tied the knot with Good Charlotte rockstar Benji Madden, and Cameron previously confessed that they made the commitment just a few months after meeting.
Before they met, she had famously dated other A-listers - most notably Justin Timberlake and Jared Leto - but Cameron is keen to divulge exactly what happened between her and Benji that made her sashay down the aisle at the age of 42.
Talking at Gwyneth Paltrow's In Goop Health wellness summit this weekend, she said: 'I had boyfriends before, and there's a really, really distinct difference between husbands and boyfriends.'
According to Cameron, it's about being partners in absolutely everything, and the ability to treat each other as equals. For her, it just so happened that she was in her forties when she met her life partner, Benji.

'He's just my partner in life, in everything. I've never had anyone who supported me so much and gave me so much courage to be myself and to really explore myself.
'My husband has been able to show me what it's like to be an equal. And I've learned so much from him. I look at him every day and he inspires me. I feel so lucky.
'We're totally two peas in a pod. We're both just weird enough for each other. He's my perfect little weirdo and I'm his perfect little weirdo.'
Possibly the most adorable thing we've ever heard.
